Fun at Liberty Science

Today I finally found time to write and post images from our recent trip to Liberty Science Center in NJ. My little one has been really sick so I have been Dr. Mom all week and I am still on watch.  This trip was great fun and I highly recommend it to anyone who has not visited yet.  The Curious George exhibition was a favorite and will be at the center until May 12, 2013 just in case anyone can make it.

The munchkins had fun using pipes, ramps, funnels, bumpers and force to experiment with physics. They played mini golf and climbed into the “rocket slide” where they took a photo of their first space adventure. After that, they walked to the “country” and visited the set up farm. They learned about cause and effect while using wind power to move windmills and wind chimes.  They were also able to play with a real rotary phone.  Ah, to be three again.

They little engineers had soaking wet fun using clamshell dredge. They used the handles to scoop out rocks and sediment and learned how to empty the bin. It is a great opportunity to teach them how dredging maintains the harbor clean and showing them just how engineers do it with these machines. The alligator snapping turtle was a favorite and so was this snapshot of a cute little turtle we met there. It appears to be walking and made the little ones chuckle. : ) CLAMD.snpa.walking.turtle.snpAlexis.sopretty.snp

Spring Smiles

The warm sun and inviting crisp breeze tickled many to head outside yesterday. I am  happy I had the opportunity to photograph the Ramsey family at a nature conservation center. Their two little ones kept them on their toes and ran about while I took these images. The more I photograph children, the more I enjoy it. I have always loved teaching and/or helping children, so it should be no surprise I enjoy taking their photos. They grow up  fast so it is wise to photograph the tender years. Then, one can look back at all the happy moments shared and smile. Happy Easter!

Winter Snow

Winter may not be a favorite season for some, yet children love playing in the snow. Who doesn’t remember having a snowball fight as a child?  I must admit I wanted to stay home and not go out after this last snow storm. However, my little one quickly convinced me it was time to go play.

Winter time is a good time to let the inner child come out and play. If you have children, go and have fun! Make some snow angels, snowman or snowballs. Just be sure to dress children in warm layers, skip the cotton clothing this time. Choose fleece, wool or warm fabrics and keep hands and head covered. Offer a snack before going out to maintain energy and make sure their feet are warm and dry.

We have more snow on the way so it may be a good time to go to library and get some books to read with my little one. The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and The Mitten by Jan Brett are two favorite classics for children.  Perhaps you can also enjoy a good cup of  hot chocolate and read to your child. Make some memories and Happy Valentine’s day!winter,smile.wtrmrk.snpwinter.snp.
